A viral video (here and here) on social media allegedly shows PM Narendra Modi refusing to shake hands with the President of the US, Joe Biden, at the 2024 G7 Summit held in Italy. We fact-check this claim through this article.

Claim: This video shows PM Modi refusing to shake hands with Joe Biden at the G7 Summit.

Fact: The person seen in the viral video is not Joe Biden. The same man was seen directing other world leaders at the G7 Summit at the stage including Biden. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.

To check the veracity of the viral claim, we performed a keyword search on the internet and found a longer and clearer version (here and here) of the viral video from the 2024 G7 summit.

Watching this video carefully, we learned that the person seen extending his hand beside PM Modi is not the US President Biden.

Also, the person did not seem to be extending his hand for a handshake but guided PM Modi towards the main stage, where he later met the Italian PM, Giorgia Meloni.

We then saw the footage of other leaders meeting Giorgia Meloni at the G7 stage.

Even here, (here, here, and here) the same person was guiding the other leaders towards the main stage, including Joe Biden himself( here and here).

Moreover, we found footage of PM Modi shaking hands with Joe Biden at the G7 summit, which was uploaded on the official YouTube channel of PM Modi.

To sum up, the person seen with PM Modi in this viral video from the G7 summit is not Joe Biden.
