The auto-rickshaw race in this video shows ‘Red Bull Tuk It’ event in Sri Lanka

A video of an auto-rickshaw race is being shared on social media with a claim that the race in the video took place in India. Let’s fact-check the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video of an auto-rickshaw race in India.

Fact: The posted video is not related to India. The race in the video shows ‘Red Bull Tuk It’ event that took place in Sri Lanka. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

When the screenshots of the video were run Google Reverse Image Search, the same video was found to be tweeted by ‘Reuters’ in July 2020. In their tweet, it was said– ‘Sri Lankan tuk tuk drivers put their three-wheeled vehicles to the test in a grueling course’.

In an article by ‘The Financial Express’, it can be read that the video is related to ‘Red Bull Tuk It’ event in Sri Lanka. The logo of ‘Red Bull Tuk It’ can be seen on the autos in the posted video.

Also, the number plates of the auto-rickshaws in the video do not match with the Indian vehicle registration numbers. More information regarding the  Sri Lankan tuk-tuk (or auto-rickshaw) race can be found here, here and here.

To sum it up, the auto-rickshaw race in the video is not related to India. It shows ‘Red Bull Tuk It’ event in Sri Lanka.
