Spiritual preacher Richa Mishra is not married to a Muslim person
A photo (here, here, and here) of a couple in wedding attire is being shared on social media with a claim that the woman featured in it is a Hindu spiritual preacher named Richa Mishra, who has married a Muslim. Users sharing this photo also claim that the sister of Bhageshwar Dham priest Dhirendra Krishna Shastri also married a rich Muslim sheikh from Dubai. We verify these claims through this article.
Claim: The woman featured in the photo is a Hindu spiritual preacher named Richa Mishra. She married a Muslim. Dhirendra Krishna Shastri’s sister married a Muslim in the past.
Fact: The person seen in the photo is a spiritual preacher named Devi Chitralekha. She is married to a Hindu Brahmin named Madhav Tiwari. Spritual preacher Richa Mishra is unmarried. Dhirendra Krishna Shastri’s sister married a Hindu man named Kamlesh Chauraha. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.
To check the veracity of the viral claim, we performed a reverse image search on the viral photo. This search led us to a few news carousel reports (here and here) containing the same photo. These articles identified the woman in the photo as Hindu spiritual preacher Devi Chitralekha.
Additionally, we found an uncropped version of this photo on X, posted by a user named Rahul Sharma Tiwari. According to the bio of his ‘X,’ he is a Media Coordinator at Devi Chitralekha’s Gau Seva Dham Hospital & World Sankritan Tour Trust. He mentioned in the post’s description that this photo was taken during Devi Chirralekha’s wedding. This makes it clear that the person seen in the viral photo is not Richa Mishra but Devi Chitralekha.
In the past, when Devi Chitralekha’s photos with her husband were shared with a claim that she was married to a Muslim, Factly debunked that claim. We found that she was married to a person named Madhav Tiwari, a Hindu Brahmin. In June 2020, Devi Chitralekha herself issued a clarification on this through a Facebook post. Dismissing these rumours, she said that she married a Hindu Brahmin named Madhav Tiwari on 23 May 2024.
We then moved our focus to check who spiritual preacher Richa Mishra, the person mentioned in the viral claim is and performed a keyword search. Through this search, we found that Richa Mishra is a Spiritual Orator & Motivational Speaker and founder of Navuttan Charitable Trust.
We contacted the trust through a mobile number available on Richa Mishra’s Instagram account for clarification on this claim. The spokesperson of this trust, Richa’s mother, told us that Richa Mishara is not married to a Muslim. Richa is unmarried, and she is currently at a Pravachan event in Jaipur, Rajasthan, according to her mother. She also said that the photo that is being circulated is not of Richa Mishra but of Devi Chitralekha.
Furthermore, the claim that the sister of Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri of Bhageswar Dham was married to a Muslim sheikh from Dubai has also been debunked by Factly in the past. In our investigation, we found that his sister’s name is Rita Garg, and she was married to a Hindu man named Kamlesh Chauraha. Back then, a wedding photo of actress Gehana Vasisth was shared, falsely identifying her as Dhirendra Shastri’s sister and claiming that she was marrying a Muslim man.
To sum up, spiritual preacher Richa Mishra is not married to a Muslim person.
