Scripted video of police helping a woman vegetable seller is falsely shared as real

A video (here, here and here) is going viral on social media showing a woman selling vegetables on the street, with a car parked close to her. Claim: A video showing police assisting a vegetable seller by freeing her dress caught under a car and removing the car’s tyre in the process.

Fact: The video in question is scripted and not based on a real incident. Uploaded on Facebook on 12 April 2024 by actress Sanjjanaa Galrani, the original video contains a disclaimer noting that the page features scripted dramas and parodies intended for educational and entertainment purposes. Additional disclaimers on other videos further confirm that this particular video is fictional. Therefore, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

To verify the claim, we conducted a reverse image search on Google, which led us to the full video uploaded on 12 April 2024, on the Facebook handle of Sanjjanaa Galrani. The video was captioned, “This will teach us a lesson.” At the end of the video, a disclaimer states: “Thank you for watching! Please be aware that this page features scripted dramas and parodies as well. These short films are for entertainment & educational purposes only! Characters in this video are for entertainment and educational purposes.” Additionally, the bio of the uploader, Sanjjanaa Galrani, identifies her as a South Indian actress, blogger, and founder of the Sanjjanaa Galrani Foundation. This indicates that the video is scripted.

Further research led us to the same video on the “3RD EYE” YouTube channel, uploaded on 20 June 2024, in a wider aspect ratio. “3RD EYE” is known for creating scripted videos for educational and entertainment purposes. The video and its description clarify that it was made for these purposes. Similar disclaimers on other videos from the channel further confirm that the viral video is scripted and fictional.

Factly previously debunked similar claims involving videos by “3rd Eye” created for entertainment and educational purposes, which went viral as real incidents (herehereherehere, and here).

To sum up, a scripted video of police helping a woman vegetable seller is falsely shared as a real incident.
