A video that shows personnel of India and Pakistan armies exchanging sweets is being shared widely on Facebook with the claim that they are doing so on the occasion of Diwali. Let’s analyze the authenticity of that claim.

Claim: Video of India and Pakistan armies exchanging sweets on the occasion of Diwali

Fact: The video shows personnel of India and Pakistan armies exchanging sweets during India’s 66th Republic day in 2015. So, the claim is FALSE.

When searched on Youtube with the keywords ‘Indian soldiers exchange sweets with Pakistan at LoC’, many search results were obtained. A search result among them had the news video of ‘Headlines Today’ with the visuals seen in the video. From the video, it was found that Indian soldiers have exchanged sweets with Pakistan counterparts at Uri on the occasion of India’s Republic Day in 2015.

Information from the tweet of ‘ANI’ also corroborates that the video shows personnel of Indian and Pakistani armies exchanging sweets at Uri during India’s 66th Republic day in 2015. 

To summarize, an old video is falsely being shared as ‘India and Pakistan armies exchanging sweets for Diwali’.
