Claim: PMO India has launched a hotline (9851145045) for citizens to report corruption directly.

Fact: The hotline number 9851145045 is not linked to India’s Prime Minister’s Office. It belongs to Nepal’s Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) for reporting misconduct, bribery, or delays by government officials. India does not have a single hotline to report corruption directly to the PMO; citizens can report corruption through agencies like the Central Vigilance Commission, Anti-Corruption Bureaus (ACB) at the state level, the Central Bureau of Investigation, and the Serious Fraud Investigation Office. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

To verify the claim, we searched using relevant keywords and found a report on the official online portal of Republica, an English-language national daily published by Nepal Republic Media, dated 20 September 2025. According to the report, the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) of Nepal has launched a dedicated hotline—9851145045—for citizens to report misconduct, delays, bribery, harassment, or disrespectful behaviour by government officials. Announced under the leadership of Prime Minister Sushila Karki following Gen Z protests demanding greater accountability and transparency, the hotline provides a direct channel for reporting grievances related to inefficiencies or corruption in any government ministry, office, or agency. The OPMCM has urged citizens to use the hotline promptly in cases of undue delays, negligence, bribery, harassment, or disrespectful behaviour.

We also found that the same number (9851145045) is listed on the official website of the Nepal government’s Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) in the “Hello Government” section for Viber and WhatsApp. It states that the number is dedicated to receiving complaints and suggestions from the public, aiming to support good governance and effective policymaking.

As of date, India does not have a single hotline like Nepal to report corruption directly to the Prime Minister’s Office. However, citizens can report corruption through official channels such as the Central Vigilance Commission, Anti-Corruption Bureau at the state level, the Central Bureau of Investigation, and the Serious Fraud Investigation Office. These agencies provide online portals, helplines, and email options for lodging complaints.

To sum up, PMO India has not launched a corruption hotline; 9851145045 is an initiative of Nepal.
