India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire following Operation Sindoor on 10 May 2025 (here, here and here). India later accused Pakistan of violating the agreement, leading to a strong military response. The next day, Indian armed forces presented evidence of targeted airstrikes on terror camps and Pakistani military sites. Amid these tensions, a few videos (here, here, here, and here) went viral on social media showing army personnel with vehicles at an airport detaining a person. Another clip from the same incident shows someone lying on the ground surrounded by army officers. It was claimed that a Pakistani terrorist was caught by the army at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. Let’s find out the truth behind this video.
Claim: The viral videos show terrorists being detained by the police at Shamshabad Airport (Rajiv Gandhi International Airport) in Hyderabad.
Fact: The Telangana government has clarified that the video is from a recent CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) mock drill conducted at Shamshabad Airport. Hence, the claim is FALSE.
To verify the truth, we performed a reverse image search on Google, which led us to the X page of the Telangana State Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB). They fact-checked the claim and shared the viral video, stating that the claim is false. According to TGCSB, the visuals are from a recent mock drill conducted at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport as part of routine security preparedness.
We also found a post from the official X page of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), MHA, Government of India. The CISF account shared one of the viral videos and clarified that it was shot during a mock drill at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, and is being falsely shared as footage of Pakistani terrorists being arrested.
A comparison between the viral video and the official mock drill video shared by government agencies shows that the attire of the detained person, the army vehicle, and the airport setup are identical in both videos. This confirms that the viral video is from a mock drill and not footage of any terrorist arrest.
Additionally, we also found that the Telangana Fact Check team and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad, denied the claim through their official X pages on 13 May 2025 (here and here).
To sum up, a mock drill video from Hyderabad airport is being falsely shared as the army catching terrorists.
