Fact: This viral video shows a collision between two trams inside a tunnel in the eastern French city of Strasbourg on 11 January 2025, resulting in several injuries. Further, there are no accidents involving a Delhi Metro train and Namo Bharat train recently in January 2025. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.
Upon searching with relevant keywords, we found no reports of a collision between a Delhi Metro train and a Namo Bharat train, or any accident involving two Delhi Metro trains on 25 January 2025, or recently in January 2025.
To gather more details about this viral video, we conducted a Google reverse image search using the keyframes from the video. This search led us to an extended version of the viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter) on 12 January 2025 by the official Sky News handle, with the caption: ‘Dozens of people have been hurt after two trams collided in Strasbourg. Scalp wounds and fractures were reported, but no one was critically injured.’ According to the description of the post, the viral video shows a collision between two trams in Strasbourg, France.
During this search, we also found a news report featuring one of the keyframes from the viral video, published by NDTV on 12 January 2025 on its website, titled ‘Rare Collision of Trams in Tunnel Leaves Dozens Injured in France.‘ According to the report, two trams collided in a tunnel in the eastern French city of Strasbourg on 11 January 2025, resulting in several injuries. The collision occurred near Strasbourg’s main railway station, one of the busiest railway stations in France outside Paris. The report further stated that French Minister of Transport Philippe Tabarot said ‘probably around 36’ people were injured in the accident, while firefighters estimated the figure to be around 50.
Upon further search, we found several news reports (here, here, here, and, here) about the tram collision in France, featuring similar visuals. From all this information, it is clear that the viral video shows a collision between two trams in Strasbourg, France.
