A video is being shared on social media claiming it as the visuals of students from Christ University in Bangalore dancing to ‘Jai Shri Ram’ song. The video shows a group of students dancing to ‘Bharat ka bacha bacha jai shri ram bolega’ song. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video of Christ University students dancing to ‘Jai Shri Ram’ song.

Fact: The video shared in the post is an edited one. Pratham Makhija, a student of Christ University and worker of ABVP, published this video on his Instagram handle on 29 October 2022. In a disclaimer added to his Instagram post, Pratham Makhija clarified it as an edited video created by adding the audio of the ‘Jai Shri Ram’ song. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.

On reverse image search of the screenshots in the video, a video showing similar visuals of students dancing to the ‘Jai Shri Ram’ song was found on the Instagram page of a user named Pratham Makhija (Instagram username: the nationalistguy). This Instagram user published the video with the description, “CHRIST UNIVERSITY in Parallel Universe.” But in a disclaimer added to this post, Pratham Makhija clarified it as an edited video created by adding the audio of the ‘Jai Shri Ram’ song. Pratham Makhija said he had created this video just for fun.

The bio section of Pratham Makhija’s Facebook page described him as a student of Christ University and a worker of Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). While speaking about this video with the ‘Boom Live’, Pratham Makhija said, “I shot the video and then uploaded the Jai Shri Ram song with it using the option on Instagram. Instagram app gives option to mute or reduce the original background music and add any song of choice.” The video reportedly shows the visuals from the Christ University Ethnic Day 2022 event held in October 2022. A few more videos showing Christ University students dancing to film songs at the recent ‘Ethnic Day’ celebrations can be seen here and here. Though we could not find the original audio played while shooting the video, from all these pieces of evidence, it can be concluded that the post shared an edited video that was created by adding the audio of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ song.

Earlier, when similar edited videos were being shared as the visuals of Zimbabwe Players, Pakistani fans and crowd at a stadium dancing to the ‘Jai Shri Ram’ song, FACTLY published fact-check articles debunking those claims. They can be seen here, here and here.

To sum it up, an edited video is shared as the visuals of Bangalore’s Christ University students dancing to ‘Jai Shri Ram’ song.
