Fact: There is no such tweet on Kamala Harris’s official Twitter handle. However, a Canadian MP Jack Harris tweeted the same text about the Indian farmers’ protest. Also, the time and date of this tweet coincide with that of the purported tweet by Kamala Harris. This proves that the Canadian MP’s tweet is digitally morphed so as to look like Kamala Harris’s tweet. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.
When we ran a search for the tweet on Kamala Harris’s official Twitter account, we could not find any such tweet about Indian farmers’ protest on her timeline. Also, we could not find an archived version of any such tweet.
However, Google search with the text of the tweet as keywords led us to a tweet by a Canadian MP named Jack Harris which carried the exact same words as in the purported tweet by Kamala Harris. The date & time of the Canadian MP’s tweet is the same as the one in the screenshot. With this, we can conclude that the tweet of Canadian MP is digitally morphed so as to look like a tweet by Kamala Harris.
Also, there are no news articles or reports regarding Kamala Harris’s tweet about the Indian farmers’ protest.
In the light of the ongoing farmers protest opposing the new farm laws, posts like these are being widely shared on social media platforms with misleading claims.
To sum it up, Canadian MP’s tweet in support of farmers’ protest is morphed and falsely attributed to Kamala Harris.
