Heavy monsoon rains hit Delhi, and there are already reports of flooding. Amid this, a video (here, here, here and here) going viral on social media showing planes stuck in floodwater at an airport, is claimed to be from Delhi. Let’s find out the truth behind this video.
Claim: Video shows Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Airport flooded due to heavy rainfall.
Fact: The video is not from Delhi but from Dubai Airport, which was flooded in April 2024 after record rainfall. No credible reports confirm flooding at Delhi Airport in July 2025 as of 21 July 2025. Hence the claim is FALSE.
To find the truth, we did a reverse image search on Google. It led us to the same video shared by various handles, many of which claimed that the incident took place at Dubai Airport on 16 April 2024 (here, here, here and here). This gives a strong clue that the video is from Dubai, not Delhi.
Further search led us to several news reports featuring key frames from the viral video (here, here and here). According to these reports, in April 2024, over 30 flights between India and Dubai were cancelled due to record-breaking rainfall and severe flooding. Dubai Airport had advised passengers to avoid travel unless necessary, as the runways were waterlogged. IndiGo, Air India Express, and other airlines faced major disruptions, with passengers offered refunds or rescheduling. The UAE witnessed its heaviest rainfall in 75 years, which severely impacted air travel operations.
Additionally, while Delhi is currently experiencing heavy rainfall, a search for any reports of flooding at the Indira Gandhi Airport did not lead to any credible news reports as of 21 July 2025.
To sum up, an old video of a flooded airport in Dubai is falsely shared as that of Delhi Airport.
