On 13 June 2025, Israel launched Operation Rising Lion, targeting over a dozen sites across Iran to prevent the development of nuclear weapons. The strikes reportedly damaged key nuclear facilities and military installations, killing several top Iranian military leaders. In response, Iran initiated Operation True Promise 3, launching a series of ballistic missiles and drones at Israel. Shortly after, in the early hours of 22 June, the United States conducted Operation Midnight Hammer, striking three major Iranian nuclear sites—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan—using seven B-2 bombers and submarine-launched missiles. The U.S. described the strikes as a pre-emptive move to degrade Iran’s nuclear capabilities. On 23 June, US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire between the involved countries.
In this context, a video (here, here and here) is going viral on social media showing what appears to be a parliament session where one person is speaking, and another individual suddenly approaches and starts physically attacking him. It is being claimed that this incident took place in Israel, suggesting that the people have turned against the Israeli government and attacked members in parliament. Let’s find out the truth behind this video.
Claim: The video shows a physical altercation among parliament members in the Israeli parliament, signalling public outrage against the Israel government.
Fact: The video actually shows a brawl in the Georgian parliament on 15 April 2024, during a debate on a controversial foreign agents’ bill. It has no connection to Israel or its government. Hence the claim is FALSE.
To verify the truth, we conducted a reverse image search on Google, which led us to the extended version of the viral video uploaded by Reuters on their X handle on 16 April 2024. The caption stated that the footage shows a brawl involving lawmakers in Georgia as the ruling party pushed forward a controversial ‘foreign agents’ bill. The bill had drawn criticism from Western countries and sparked widespread protests within Georgia. This confirms the video is not from Israel and is unrelated to the Zionist government.
Further research led us to several news reports (here, here and here) confirming the incident took place on 15 April 2024. During a heated debate on Georgia’s controversial foreign agents’ bill, opposition MP Aleko Elisashvili punched Mamuka Mdinaradze, the leader of the ruling Georgian Dream party, in parliament. The bill seeks to require foreign-funded organisations to register as “foreign agents,” a move that has sparked deep political divisions and mass protests since early 2023.
Additionally, a keyword search for any such incident in the Israeli parliament yielded no credible reports. This confirms that the viral video has no connection to the Iran-Israel conflict and is being falsely linked to it.
To sum up, a video showing a physical altercation in the Georgian parliament is falsely shared as an incident from the Israeli parliament.
