The first phase of the Bihar elections has concluded, and as people prepare and parties gear up for the second phase, a video (here, here and here) has gone viral on social media that shows a mob, some with their faces covered, hitting the door of a house with sticks and throwing stones. The video is being shared with the claim that it shows Bhumihars attacking a Kushwaha’s house in Bihar during the elections. Let’s find out the truth behind this video.

Claim: The video shows two caste groups in Bihar clashing during the ongoing 2025 assembly elections.
Fact: The video is unrelated to the 2025 Bihar elections. It shows a June 2025 clash in Karanisar village, Hanumangarh, Rajasthan, over a water pipeline dispute, which predates the Bihar elections. Hence, the claim is False.
To verify the claim, we performed a reverse image search on Google, which led us to the same video, an extended version uploaded on Facebook by a page named Hanumangarh Breaking News on 17 June 2025. The post predates the announcement of the Bihar elections and mentions that the incident took place in Hanumangarh city, Rajasthan, over a land dispute.
Another result led us to a YouTube channel named Political Panchayath, which had uploaded the same scene from the viral video along with an extended version on 17 June 2025. The video also mentioned that the incident took place in Hanumangarh, Rajasthan, and was related to a dispute over the construction of an underground pipeline.
We also found multiple news reports (here and here), published on 16 June 2025, carrying stills from the viral video. These confirmed that a violent clash broke out between two groups in Karanisar village, Hanumangarh, over the laying of a water pipeline. The altercation led to stone-pelting, stick fights, and even gunfire, injuring four people and causing a house wall to collapse. Police later intervened and brought the situation under control. This confirms that the video has no connection to 2025 Bihar’s elections and actually originates from Rajasthan.
Additionally, while candidates from different castes are contesting in Bihar, we did not find any credible reports of a major clash between the Bhumihar and Kushwaha communities related to the elections.
To sum up, an old, unrelated video from Rajasthan is being falsely shared as a caste clash in Bihar during the elections.
