A video going viral on social media (here, here, and here) shows Democratic Party leader and former U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi saying, “There’s no use in wishing good morning since it most definitely is not.” This post is being shared claiming that she made this remark after Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election.

Fact: The video dates back to 24 June 2022 when Nancy Pelosi criticized the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe vs. Wade, the 1973 ruling that protected the constitutional right to abortion during her weekly press conference at the Capitol Visitor Center. The remarks were not made after Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election and unrelated to the 2024 U.S. election. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
A reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video led to the original video uploaded by MSNBC’s Facebook handle on 24 June 2022. The post’s caption revealed that Pelosi was responding to the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v.s Wade, stating, “Today, the radical Supreme Court is eviscerating Americans’ rights and endangering their health and safety.” She condemned the ruling, saying it stripped women of the right to make their own reproductive health decisions.
