Fact: The incident is not recent and occurred on 27 June 2023 when Devendra Fadnavis visited Jalgaon, Maharastra for a program by the Deep Stambh Foundation. A differently abled girl without hands applied tilak on his forehead with her toe and performed aarti. Additionally, Fadnavis posted the same video on X, praising the girl’s unwavering spirit and determination. Hence, the claim made in the post is Misleading.
A reverse image search of the keyframes from the viral video led us to an X post (archived) by Free Press Journal dated 28 June 2023, featuring the same video titled “#Maharashtra: A disabled person puts a tilak on Deputy CM @Dev_Fadnavis’ forehead with her toe,” confirming that the incident is not recent from 2024.
Taking clues from the X post, we used relevant keywords and found reports (here, and here) (archived here, and here) related to the incident. According to these reports, Devendra Fadnavis was in Jalgaon, Maharastra on 27 June 2023 for a program by the Deep Stambh Foundation. During the event, a differently abled girl without hands, applied tilak on his forehead with her toe and performed aarti.
