In the context of the controversy surrounding Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar removing the hijab of a woman (here, here, and here) in a government event in Patna on 15 December 2025, a video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi watching (on TV) a video of Nitish Kumar extending his apology to the Indian Muslims and Muslim women is doing the rounds on social media. Other versions (here and here) of this video contain the clip of him allegedly apologising to muslims. We will fact-check this claim through this article.

Claim: Video of PM Narendra Modi watching a video of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar seeking forgiveness from Indian Muslims and Muslim women.
Fact: This is an AI-generated deepfake video, not a real video of Nitish Kumar apologizing to Indian Muslims. AI content detection tools have identified it as an AI-generated video. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.
To check the veracity of the claim, we performed a search using relevant keywords to know whether Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has issued an apology to the Indian Muslims and Muslim women as seen in the video. However, we did not find any credible news reports that said so. Nitish Kumar had not issued an apology as of 22 December 2025. We also did not find any reports of PM Modi watching an apology video of Nitish Kumar recently.
We then observed that the voice of Nitish Kumar in the viral video seemed odd and robotic. This made us suspect that the video could have been made using Artificial Intelligence. To verify the same, we ran the video through AI-content detection tools like Hive and Deepfake-o-meter, which identified the video as AI-generated (here and here).
Hiya, an AI-voice detector found that the voice in this video is ‘likely a deepfake.’
We then examined the Instagram profile of the user who posted the viral video and found that they have posted many similar videos of PM Modi watching other leaders speak on a TV on their page.
Similar videos are posted on its associated Facebook and YouTube channels. We found a ‘digital creator’ tag on the Facebook page. To learn more about the video of Nitish Kumar, we reached out to this page. This article will be updated accordingly once we get a response from them.
To sum up, an AI-generated video is falsely shared as visuals of CM Nitish Kumar apologising to muslims.
