Media outlet NDTV also shared the video, reporting that two cows attacked the man in Banka, leaving him critically injured. Let’s verify the claim made in the post in this article.

Claim: The video shows a cow attacking an elderly man in Bihar’s Banka district.

Fact: This viral video is not from Bihar. It shows an incident from Kalwan town in Nashik district, Maharashtra, where an elderly man named Bhalachandra Raghunath Malpure was attacked and killed by cows on 23 June 2025. As per news reports, another person was also injured in the attack. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

A reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video led us to a news report by Marathi media outlet ‘Loksatta’, published on their official YouTube channel on 24 June 2025. The report stated that the video shows an incident in Kalwan town, Nashik district, Maharashtra, where an 85-year-old man was attacked and killed by cows.

We did a Google search using relevant keywords, which led us to several media reports (herehere, and here) reporting the incident. According to these reports, the incident took place on 23 June 2025 in front of Kalwan Merchants Cooperative Bank on Old Otur Road in Kalwan town of Nashik district. Bhalachandra Raghunath Malpure (85), a resident of Chhatrapati Shivaji Nagar in Kalwan, fell from his two-wheeler when two aggressive cows suddenly attacked him. They threw him to the ground, gored him with their horns, and kicked him repeatedly. People nearby rushed to help and tried to drive the cows away using sticks and stones, but the animals kept attacking. Eventually, the crowd managed to pull Malpure aside, but the cows charged at them again and tried to attack further. During this chaos, another person who stepped in was also injured. The cows were finally chased away with large sticks. Malpure, who was seriously injured, was taken to Kalwan Rural Government Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment. Reports also state that a man named Aba More, who tried to rescue Malpure, was also injured in the attack.
