Fact: The video is from a protest in Karachi, Pakistan, held in November 2023 to show solidarity with Palestinians. News reports and visuals confirm that the demonstration took place at Nishtar Park, where participants gathered to honour Palestinian victims. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
A reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video led to an X post (archived) dated 19 November 2023 featuring similar visuals. The post identified the location as Nishtar Park in Karachi, Pakistan. The caption, translated from Urdu to English, states that thousands of Pakistanis, including students from various schools and madrassas, gathered to honour Palestinian victims and over 5,000 children killed in Gaza.
Building on the details from the X post, we used relevant keywords to search further and found that Pakistani news outlet Dawn News had also covered the protest, featuring visuals matching the viral video at timestamp 6:18 minutes. According to the report, the protest at Karachi’s Nishtar Park was held in memory of children killed in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza. It also confirms that thousands of people, including students, participated in the demonstration.
Further research led us to photos released by the Associated Press on 19 November 2023. The caption verified that they were taken during a protest in Karachi, Pakistan, opposing Israel and supporting Palestine.
