A video from a film shoot is falsely shared as a real incident of sexual assault and murder

A video showing an unconscious woman surrounded by a few policemen is being shared on social media (here, here, and here). The post is being shared with the claim that six boys raped a woman from Jharkhand and murdered her and then dumped her body in a forest. Let’s verify the truth behind the video in this article.

The archived post can be found here.

Claim: The video shows a real incident in which six boys raped and murdered a woman from Jharkhand.

Fact: The video is from the shoot of a film titled Lujeg, not a real crime. Behind-the-scenes visuals show a cameraman, lighting equipment, and the woman seen unconscious in the viral clip confirming it’s a movie shoot. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

A reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video led us to an Instagram post dated 14 May 2025, featuring an extended version of the same video. The caption stated that the video is from the shooting of a film titled “Lujeg”. In this version, people dressed in police uniforms are seen taking the woman to a hospital in an ambulance. A cameraman is visible filming the scene, even directing one of the actors in uniform and capturing a close-up shot.

We found that two other people were tagged in the post. After reviewing their profiles, we came across the account of cameraman Chandan, where a video of the same scene shot from a different angle was posted. In this version, as the people dressed as police officers lift the woman and begin moving her toward the ambulance, they suddenly pause. A woman in a police uniform then starts laughing. In another video from the same setup, multiple lighting setups typically used in film shoots can be seen, something that would be unlikely in a real crime scene. These visuals clearly indicate that the video is from a film shoot.

We also found that the poster of the film “Lujeg” was shared on the same account on 13 May 2025.

We found several other videos related to the shooting of the film “Lujeg” on social media (here, here, and here). In one such video, the woman seen as injured in the viral clip is shown putting a mask on her face inside the ambulance. This indicates that the visuals are from a film shoot and not from a real incident.

To sum up, a video from a film shoot is falsely shared as a real incident of sexual assault and murder.
