A scripted video, created for entertainment purposes, is being falsely shared as a real incident of a woman claiming to have married her father-in-law

A video (here, here, and here) circulating widely on social media claims to show a young woman, apparently pregnant, confessing that she has married her own father-in-law. We will fact-check this claim through this article.

An archived version of this post can be found here.

Claim: This video shows a woman claiming that she married her own father-in-law after she became pregnant.

Fact: This is a scripted video produced by a content creator named Kanhaiya Singh. The couple featured in the video has featured in many other scripted videos produced and posted on a YouTube channel named ‘Kanhaiya Singh Shorts’. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.

To verify the claim, we conducted a reverse image search on several keyframes from the viral video, which led us to the original version of this video, available on a YouTube channel named ‘Kanhaiya Singh shorts.’ Based on the bio of his Instagram page, Kanhaiya Singh is a ‘Reel creator.’

His Instagram page and YouTube channel contained several scripted prank videos and scripted sketches (here, here, here, here, and here). These videos include disclaimers stating that they are made purely for entertainment purposes only.

Additionally, we found that the couple featured in the viral video also featured in several other videos on the ‘Kanhaiya Singh shorts’ YouTube channel (here and here). One of these videos even included a disclaimer stating that it was purely for entertainment purposes.

This evidence makes it clear that the people featured in the viral video are actors and that it is a scripted or staged video, not depicting a real incident.

To sum up, a scripted video is falsely shared as a real video of a woman claiming to have married her father-in-law.
