A video going viral on social media (here, here and here) claims that after the Indian military’s Operation Sindoor targeting Pakistan, Pakistani citizens have started criticising their own government. In the viral video, a man speaking in Urdu sarcastically claims Pakistan “won” the war not through strength or technology, but by being better at lying. He mocks how India was actively engaged overnight, while Pakistan simply declared victory the next morning. He also ridicules the Pakistan Army and government, saying if cricket matches weren’t shown live, Pakistan would have claimed all World Cup wins. Let’s verify the truth behind the video in this article.
Claim: The video shows a Pakistani citizen criticising their government for falsely declaring victory over India after Operation Sindoor.
Fact: The man in the video is Anil Singh, an Indian comedian and actor from Delhi. The video, originally posted on his Instagram account, is intended as satire. Anil Singh confirmed to Factly that he is an Indian actor and comedian who created the video to portray a Pakistani character in order to mock Pakistan. He is not a Pakistani citizen. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
A reverse image search of the keyframes from the viral video led us to the same video (archived) posted on Anil Singh’s Instagram handle on 19 May 2025. The video’s caption included hashtags such as #comedy, #sarcasm, and #parody, confirming its satirical nature.
On reviewing Anil Singh’s Instagram profile, we found that he describes himself as a comedian, fashion model, and theatre actor based in Delhi, India.
We also found another Instagram post (archived) of Anil Singh, where he responded to a Republic Bharat video in which an anchor allegedly labelled him Pakistani. He clarified that he is from India and added that his content is shared under Fair Use for educational and reporting purposes.
Notably, the same viral video was aired on Republic Bharat’s show “Yeh Bharat Ki Baat Mein Hai” on 23 May 2025, with the claim that it showed a Pakistani citizen admitting defeat. Although the video was later removed from their YouTube channel, it is still available on the internet, with the clip appearing around the 28-minute mark.
We also came across an Instagram post (archived) featuring a video of Anil Singh, uploaded on 26 May 2025. In the video, he shared a screenshot of his Aadhaar card and identified himself as Indian. He also stated that he belongs to the Rajput caste of the Hindu religion.
We contacted Anil Singh via email for clarification about his identity. He responded by confirming that he is an Indian actor and comedian who created a satirical video portraying a Pakistani character to mock Pakistan. The video is now being shared with false claims that he is from Pakistan, which is incorrect. He also mentioned that Republic Bharat labelled him as Pakistani without verifying the facts and later admitted to contacting him, saying, “We couldn’t recognise you because of your good acting.”
To sum up, a satirical video of an Indian influencer mocking Pakistan’s victory claim after Operation Sindoor is falsely shared as if he were a Pakistani citizen.
