Claim: The viral Aaj Tak news clip reports that a leaked intelligence document from Assam predicts a major defeat for the BJP in the upcoming 2026 Assam Assembly elections.

Fact: No such report exists. Aaj Tak has not published this news on any of its official platforms, and AI detection tools flagged the clip as digitally altered. Aaj Tak also officially confirmed that the viral video is fake, proving that the clip is deepfake and not an authentic broadcast. Hence the claim is FALSE.

To verify the claim, we first searched for keywords indicating any such news from Assam, but found no credible reports supporting the claim. We then checked Aaj Tak’s official social media pages, website and YouTube channel, but found no such news published by the outlet (here, here, here and here).

To verify the authenticity of the video, we ran it through the Hive AI detector, which flagged it as AI-generated or deepfake. Additionally, the Hiya voice AI detector also confirmed that the audio was a deepfake.

Additionally, Aaj Tak officially fact-checked the claim and confirmed that the video was digitally altered and that no such news was broadcast by the channel, further proving that the clip is a deepfake and not an authentic Aaj Tak report.

To sum up, a deepfake clip is being falsely shared as an Aaj Tak news report about an alleged intelligence leak ahead of the Assam elections.
