A video going viral on social media (here, here, and here) features Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Mehboob Ali allegedly warning that the BJP’s rule will end as the Muslim population increases. He claims, “Now your rule will end,” and expresses confidence that the SP will return to power by 2027. Let’s find out the truth behind the video in this article.

Fact: The viral video of SP MLA Mehboob Ali is shared without full context. In his speech at a Samajwadi Party event in Bijnor on 29 September 2024, SP MLA Mehboob Ali said, “We all belong to PDA (backward, Dalit, and minority), and everyone wants peace in the country. We want to live with brotherhood and love. Some people spread fear, saying the Muslim population is growing and will take over. Even the Mughals who ruled for 850 years couldn’t achieve that. Those misleading the country should know that people have awakened and responded in Parliament. Insha Allah, we (Samajwadi Party) will return in 2027.” Hence, the claim made in the post is Misleading.
A Google keyword search led us to a video published on UP Tak’s YouTube channel on 02 October 2024, titled “Mehboob Ali Controversy: SP MLA Mehboob Ali did not say what you are hearing.” The video report revealed that only a portion of the SP MLA’s speech from a Samajwadi Party event in Bijnor on 29 September 2024 is being shared on social media.
Further investigation led us to a tweet from Mehboob Ali on the X platform, where he shared a video titled “Original video of my speech at the Bijnor event.“
In the viral video, Mehboob Ali is saying, “Now the percentage is increasing, they will whisper in your ears, they will come with a bag, now your rule will end, the population of Muslims is increasing so much that they will come to power in the future.”
Mehboob Ali said in his speech “We all are PDA (backward, Dalit, and minority), and every person wants peace in the country. Every person wants peace in the country. We want to live with brotherhood and love. There is nothing above peace for us. But some people come somewhere, now the percentage is increasing. They will say in your ear, they will come with a bag, ‘Be careful in the coming times. Now your rule will end. The population of Muslims is increasing so much… and in future, we will come to power…’ This could not be done even in the power of the Mughals who ruled for 850 years. Their status did not become anything. Today, those who run the country by misleading should know that the people of India have woken up, have also answered in Parliament (elections) and will go in the coming 2027. And Insha Allah we (Samajwadi Party) will come.”
Additionally, we found a report stating that the SP MLA addressed the viral video, saying, “The video of my speech at the party program in Bijnor has been edited and circulated by malicious elements and opponents.”
