A video clip (here, here, here, and here) showing a severe storm is being widely shared across social media platforms, with the claim that it depicts a devastating earthquake that occurred in Delhi on 07 April 2025, in which several thousand people died and were injured. Claim: Video shows a devastating earthquake that occurred in Delhi on 07 April 2025, in which several thousand people were killed.

Fact: No such earthquake occurred in Delhi on 07 April 2025. A portion of the viral video actually shows a storm that struck Zagreb, Croatia, in July 2023. According to news reports, on 04 April 2025, a 5.0 magnitude earthquake occurred in Nepal. Tremors from this earthquake were felt across Northern India, including the Delhi-NCR region. However, none of the reports mentioned any damage to life or property in India as a result of these tremors. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

A relevant keyword search did not yield any credible reports of a severe earthquake occurring in Delhi on 07 April 2025. If such a devastating earthquake, resulting in the deaths of several thousand people, had taken place in Delhi, it would certainly have been reported by the media.

According to news reports (here, here, and here), the National Centre for Seismology stated that a 5.0 magnitude earthquake occurred in Nepal at 7:52 p.m. (local time) on 04 April 2025, with its epicentre located at a depth of 20 kilometres. Tremors from the earthquake were felt across parts of Northern India, including the Delhi-NCR region. However, none of the reports mentioned any damage to life or property in India as a result of these tremors.

Upon analysing the viral video, it is clear that it is a compilation of three separate clips, all of which depict a storm, not an earthquake as claimed in the viral posts.

To gather more details about the viral video, we conducted a Google reverse image search using keyframes from the footage. This search led us to a video (archived) with similar visuals, posted on X (formerly Twitter) on 20 July 2023 by a user named @Centinela35, which identifies itself as a media and news page. According to the description of the video, the visuals show a storm that struck Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, in July 2023.

Furthermore, we found the same footage of a roof collapsing onto parked cars during the storm, shared across various social media platforms (here, here, and here). In these posts, users also claimed the location to be Zagreb, Croatia.

According to news reports (here, here), a powerful storm struck the Balkan nations on 19 July 2023, bringing strong winds and heavy rain. At least five people were killed across Croatia, Bosnia, and Slovenia, and dozens were injured, according to police. In Croatia, two people lost their lives, several others were injured, and significant property damage was reported in various parts of the country.

We were unable to identify the sources of the other clips featured in the viral video. However, it is clear that no such earthquake occurred in Delhi on 07 April 2025, as claimed in the post.

To sum up, a 2023 video of a storm in Croatia is being falsely shared as showing a devastating earthquake in Delhi in April 2025.
