Eid was celebrated in India on 31 March 2025. Amid this, a photo (here, here and here) has gone viral showing Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath having a meal with BJP leader and former Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, along with Hema Malini. It is being claimed that CM Adityanath visited Naqvi’s residence to extend Eid greetings and partake in sevaiyaan in 2025. Let’s find out the truth behind this claim.

The archived post can be found here.

Claim: Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath visited Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi’s residence to celebrate Eid and share a meal in 2025.

Fact: The viral photo is from an old event held on 10 November 2021, during the Braj Raj Mahotsav in Vrindavan, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. There is no evidence of Yogi Adityanath visiting Naqvi’s residence for Eid in 2025. Hence, the claim is FALSE.

To verify the claim, we performed a reverse image search on Google, which led us to a post by the X handle of United News of India, dated 10 November 2021. The caption of the post stated that Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, and Mathura MP and Bollywood veteran Hema Malini were enjoying litti-chokha during Chhath Puja celebrations at Hunar Haat in Mathura.

Further research using relevant keywords led us to several reports (here, here and here), including one by The Indian Express, which featured the same image and reported that on 10 November 2021, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the Braj Raj Mahotsav and Hunar Haat in Vrindavan—a 10-day event promoting traditional crafts under the ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign. He also shared a meal with sadhus before the ceremony and acknowledged the Brij Teerth Vikas Parishad’s implementation of projects worth over ₹400 crore. This was his 17th visit to the Braj region as CM, confirming that the viral image is not recent.

Former Union Minister of Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, who appears alongside Yogi Adityanath in the viral photo, had shared several images from the same event, including one where he is seen sharing a meal with the CM. In a post dated 10 November 2021, he shared a detailed caption highlighting that Adityanath praised the Hunar Haat artisans for supporting the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. He also appreciated India’s rich handicraft tradition, visited Vishwakarma Vatika, paid tribute to Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh, and enjoyed traditional village food at the “Mera Gaon Mera Desh” setup.

Additionally, as Muslims celebrated Eid on March 31 this year, we checked Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi’s social media handles to verify whether Yogi Adityanath visited his residence on the occasion. While Naqvi shared several Eid photos featuring visits from prominent leaders, we found no image of Yogi Adityanath. Similarly, no such visit was mentioned on Yogi Adityanath’s official accounts. This confirms that the viral claim is false and the photo being circulated is from an older event.

To sum up, a 2021 photo of Yogi Adityanath and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi from the Braj Raj Mahotsav is falsely shared as visuals of Yogi Adityanath celebrating Eid with Naqvi in 2025.
