A video is being shared on social media claiming it as cloudburst visuals recently captured in Bengaluru. In the wake of the recent continuous rainfall in Bengaluru, this video is going viral on social media. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.
Claim: Recent video showing a cloudburst in Bengaluru.
Fact: The video shared in the post was created using the time-lapse feature by an Australia-based photographer named Kane Artie. The video was captured in 2020 near the Perth airport in Australia. The video does not show any recent visuals of a cloudburst in Bengaluru. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
On reverse image search of the screenshots of the video, a video with similar visuals was found in a Facebook post made by a photographer named Kane Artie on 25 February 2020. Kane Artie published the video stating, “Well this afternoons front that rolled in was something else! I made a last minute dash down the road to the viewing area at the Perth Airport as I knew I would have a nice open area to shoot. So glad I did. I got absolutely drenched running back down the ramp, and nearly got blown over with the gusts that came through. I had to hang on to the fence to stay on my feet. Was it worth it….. Hell yes”. Kane Artie said that the video was shot near Perth airport in Australia and informed that the video license was available with Severe Weather Australia.
Sharing a screenshot of the video, Kane Artie in a recent Facebook post stated, “This is just one of the shots from the storm Timelapse back in February 2020. When these microbursts hit the ground, all the force has to go somewhere and it gets blasted outwards. As I was running back to the car, I found out just how powerful they are. I nearly got blown off my feet and had to pull myself along the fence to get back to the car. I would be lying if I said I didn’t crap myself a little bit at the time. But man it’s just beautiful to see what Mother Nature can produce”. Severe Weather Australia tweeted the same video on 26 February 2020.
Several weather news websites including the ‘Daily Mail’ published articles crediting the video to photographer Kane Artie. They can be seen here and here.
To sum it up, a time-lapse storm video shot in Australia is shared as recent visuals of a cloudburst in Bengaluru.
